D.A.R.E. Sweepstakes

“I am grateful to DARE America’s message to promote self-awareness and inner-strength– it offers a lifestyle which focuses on helping others in community projects and on building independence, confidence and leadership as a means of abstaining from a lifestyle of drugs and alcohol. When children learn that they are “enough” they learn to rely on their own strengths rather than turn to outside dependencies. ”

STUDENT SAFETY & HEALTH

Despite significant declines in recent years, the abuse of and addiction to drugs, alcohol, and tobacco among America’s youth is still alarmingly high.

Drug and alcohol abuse induces risky or deadly behaviors that can result in suicide, driving while intoxicated, criminal activity, high-risk sex, and injurious accidents.

Tobacco, alcohol and other drug use can precipitate poor health, irreparable vital organ damage, debilitating addition, and premature death.

Substance abuse retards brain development and is many times more toxic to youth than adults.

D.A.R.E America saves lives and prevents injury by engaging with law enforcement, students, schools and parents/caregivers to effect D.A.R.E. provides students with the skills to make sound decisions as well as to avoid threats and violence attributable to bullying, gangs, cyber-bullying, and other high-risk behaviors.
